ABOUT

WHAT IDEAS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

WHO CAN APPLY?

HOW TO APPLY?

THINGS TO CONSIDER?

HOW DO WE JUDGE WHICH IDEAS GET THE MONEY?

We are looking for ideas for an activity or project to do with sport, arts, music, outdoors, tech or something else. Anything that involves:

- Working in a group

- Learning new skills

- Having fun

- Making new friends

- Meeting regularly

- Takes place during the school holidays, weekends or after school

We’d love to hear a variety of ideas - perhaps something new you’ve always wanted to try, maybe something you’ve done before at school; the opportunity is truly yours!

  • Groups of 3 or more children
  • Aged between 5 and 12
  • Living in Hastings or St Leonards
  • Must have help from an adult (parent, carer, teacher or activity leader)

It’s really easy to apply - you can do it right here on our website either by filling in a form, or by sending us a video. All you need to do is answer these questions:

Answer these questions:

  1. Who are you?
  2. What is your project idea?
  3. Who will benefit from your idea?
  4. Tell us why this project is needed or wanted?
  5. How much money do you need, and what will you spend it on? (This must be typed up in a table on our website, even if you’re making a video.)

In order to apply, please keep in mind anything that you may need help with:

  • Do you need an adult to help?
  • Do you need to rent out an area?
  • Do you need any equipment?
  • Do you need to pay for travel?

We wish we could give everybody the money they need for their ideas, but we have a limited amount. For this reason, we will be marking everybody’s ideas using the following criteria:

  • Is it an original idea?
  • Is it free of charge for children attending?
  • Is it aimed at children who don’t normally take part in activities
  • Is it something that doesn’t already exist in Hastings
  • Does it offer value for money

Young Ambassadors will decide which groups will be funded and Hastings Voluntary Action (HVA) can support groups if necessary. Their support may include Safeguarding Training, DBS checks, Health and Safety, financial support and more.
